OPINION:GENDER SEPARATION EFFECT ON SEXUAL ORIENTATION
5yrs ago this topic would not have been an issue for discussion,but today the increase at which gay marriage is being legalised,gay people are being discriminated and the several controversies resulting from issues of sexual orientation necessitates this type of discussion.
I have heard of people who claim to be born gay but it just doesnt make any sense from a natural or biological point of view and many have argued that if its bizarre for a male dog to mount another male dog the same applies to human beings who are are often referred to scientifically as higher animals.
Another popular reason that influences sexual orientation which i have heard is that circumstances could sometimes influence sexual orientation, although most people in this category often turnout to become bisexual. one of such circumstances that might lead to a change of sexual orientation is the atmosphere is gender selective schools.many argue that a large number of people that go into the schools straight come out gay due to the absence of the opposite sex.
I do not validate nor condemn any of these arguments by means of this article but in my opinion there is really no sound basis for gender separation.if morals should be the basis for such then there is no justification for gender separation because the society (atleast nigerian) considers being gay worse than any moral crime in a mixed atmosphere.if it is true that many become gay as a result of gender separation then i think its hightime we mixed things up a little.a friend once suggested that its unfair that gay boys share the same hostel with straight boys and lesbian ladies with other ladies he said why don't we just level the "playing field" try mixed hostels and see what happens
